Highlights: J&B worked with the client on a 1,000-word article for the Harvard International Review (HIR) addressing Theme C: “Resilient Cities and Urban Futures.” The team split the project into: a brainstorming phase, topic selection, lecture, seminar, outlining process, draft writing, editing, and evaluation. The team worked closely with the client on responding in detail to Theme C, incorporating a relevant hook into their article, examining the “future” of their topic, and explaining its relevance throughout their analyses. The Topic: J&B worked with the client on a 1,000-word article for the Harvard International Review (HIR) addressing Theme C: “Resilient Cities and Urban Futures.” The Process: At the start of the project, J&B met with the client to gather potential ideas and themes the client was interested in writing about for HIR. After the client shared their initial insights and goals with the team, J&B prepared three topic suggestions for the client related to their interests to help them narrow down to a more concrete and specific focus. Once the client selected their topic, J&B prepared a 40-minute lecture and shared 10 scholarly sources to provide the client with background knowledge on their chosen topic. The team then met with the client for a seminar session, in which they discussed the readings in more detail. To help the client write their first draft, J&B prepared a highly detailed, 5-page outline complete with references. The client utilized J&B’s outline to write their first draft, which the team provided overall edits and polishing for, so that the client’s draft would be ready to submit to HIR. At the end of the project, J&B produced an evaluation of the client’s writing progress throughout the project. Writing Style: The client is a conscientious writer, attentive to the cultural context of their topic. They also hoped to gain valuable knowledge related to their ideal future career as they worked on their HIR article. To help the client create a competitive submission to HIR, the team worked closely with the client on responding in detail to Theme C, incorporating a relevant hook into their article, examining the “future” of their topic, and explaining its relevance throughout their analyses. At the end of the project, J&B and the client were highly satisfied with their final draft. J&B’s Key Goals: Creative topic selection Critical thought Analysis Compelling narration
