Students are given a unique opportunity to sharpen their essay writing skills over the summer! J&B’s Summer Essay Boot Camp is a highly competitive essay program which will train students to become sophisticated thinkers and writers through rigorous essay writing process and oral defense.
Students not only get to write an essay, from outline to final draft, on an actual essay prompt from John Locke Essay Competition, but they also have an invaluable opportunity to orally defend their own arguments, review and give constructive criticism on peers’ drafts.
As a result, students will develop not only enhanced essay writing skills but also a keen eye for details and arguments. The students who are selected to participate in this program are expected to gain analytical and persuasive essay writing skills through research, arguments and oral defense. This program works best for students who are interested in trying out essay competitions like John Locke and Concord Review as well as preparing for IB TOK and EE.
