J&B Blue Program (Concord Review)“A Micro Focus for the Concord Review” Highlights: J&B collaborated with the client to produce a paper for the Concord Review exploring the luxury automobile industry and racial tensions in America. J&B worked with the client’s independent writing style throughout the project, offering editing and writing guidance, as well as relevant scholarly sources to guide their focus. The client is a strong history student interested in excelling in independent historical research projects, so the open-ended topic selection of the Concord Review allowed them to explore key areas that interested them from a micro standpoint. The Topic:J&B worked with the client to produce a paper for the Concord Review exploring the luxury automobile industry and racial tensions in America. The Process:J&B worked in a three-person team for this project. At the start of the project, J&B and the client met to brainstorm ideas for potential Concord Review topics. J&B followed up by sharing five possible topics that the client might like to focus on. After the client picked the topic that interested them most, J&B shared a 45-minute lecture along with several scholarly sources, giving the client the chance to ask questions and gain a broader understanding of their topic. The team then met with the client to go over the reading materials, selecting three to discuss in detail. To begin the writing process, J&B prepared a detailed outline for the client, which they used to prepare their first draft. After J&B edited the client’s draft, the client shared a second draft, including additional scholarly sources and sections they added independently and wanted the team to review. J&B then polished the client’s final draft and evaluated the client’s writing performance to help them grow. Writing Style:The client is a strong, independent writer focused on addressing “unanswered questions” surrounding their topic. To help the client dive deeper, J&B offered several scholarly sources for the client to help them better understand the broader historical context of their topic. From an editing standpoint, the team also worked with the client to create unique paragraphing and concise analyses. At the end of the project, both J&B and the client were satisfied with the final paper. J&B’s Key Goals: Research Collaboration Editing and revising Historical analysis Journal Selection Process:As the client is a strong history student interested in excelling in independent historical research projects, J&B recommended that they submit a paper to the Concord Review. The open-ended topic selection process allowed the client to explore America’s racial inequalities from a micro standpoint, which aligned with their long-term interests. At the end of the project, the client was satisfied not only with the process of writing a lengthy, Concord-Review-style paper but with the writing skills they gained in the process.
