J&B Red Program (Writing Portfolio)“The Metamorphosis: Transforming Essays and Poetry into a Writing Portfolio” Highlights: J&B worked with the client to create a writing portfolio made up of ten of the client’s strongest writing pieces, as well as a two-page cover letter identifying the main themes in their work. The J&B team conducted consulting sessions with the client to gather writing samples, utilized their expertise to select the strongest works, and organized them into a logical sequence. J&B helped the client represent their unique voice as an essayist and poet in a compelling cover letter format. The Topic:J&B worked with the client to create a writing portfolio made up of ten of the client’s best writing pieces, including award-winning essays and works of poetry. J&B also helped the client prepare a two-page cover letter for their writing portfolio identifying key, creative themes throughout their work. The client submitted their writing portfolio along with their college applications. The Process:At the start of the project, the J&B team consulted with the client to gather a wide variety of writing samples. J&B used their writing expertise to select the client’s strongest pieces and organized them into a logical sequence using a table of contents. The team also helped the client create abstracts for their essays so that their readers could smoothly navigate their portfolio. To assist the client with their cover letter, the J&B team assessed overarching messages and ideas that connected the client’s critical essays and creative poetry and incorporated them into a letter format. At the end of the project, J&B carefully edited and polished the final portfolio. Writing Style:The client is a nuanced essayist and talented poet. After engaging in multiple consulting sessions with the client, the J&B team was able to identify the client’s interest in intersectionality—a theme that they explore in history, philosophy, and personal experiences.
