The Topic:J&B consulted with the client on a UCAS Personal Statement for an architecture program in UK. J&B helped the client frame their artistic background, academic goals, and personal experiences into a 5*0-word statement that met the UCAS requirements. The Process:J&B worked as a three-person team to gather insights into the client’s volunteer experiences, plans after graduation, and major accomplishments. After a detailed consulting process, J&B helped the client connect their interest in re-imagining interior and exterior spaces to their goal of working as an innovative architect in the UK. In the first step of the process, J&B worked on a first draft with the client, which the consulting team then revised after receiving comprehensive feedback from the client. At the end of the project, J&B and the client produced a unique personal statement that highlighted the client’s originality as an applicant. Writing Style:As the client wanted to incorporate their interest in spatial psychology and Gestalt principles into their personal statement, J&B helped the client add relevant quotes and details from architecture texts into their narrative. The client also wanted to include a reflection of architect Minsuk Cho’s “Koolhaas” exhibit to express their focus on experimenting with spatial boundaries, harmonious spaces, and feelings of belonging. Accordingly, J&B worked with the client to produce a logical statement that balanced the client’s knowledge and interest in architectural concepts with their personal goals.
