J&B Blue Program (John Locke)“Taking it to the Next Level for John Locke” Highlights: J&B worked with the client on a 1,*00-word essay for the John Locke Essay Competition addressing the prompt: “What is something important, about which nearly everybody is wrong?” J&B split the project into several steps including: brainstorming, a reading period, a lecture, a seminar, outlining stage, draft writing, and editing and revision. At the end of the project, the client was highly satisfied with their work and expressed that it was one of the best essays they had written yet. The Topic:J&B worked with the client on a 1,*00-word essay for the John Locke Essay Competition addressing the Junior category prompt: “What is something important, about which nearly everybody is wrong?” The Process:At the start of the project, J&B met with the client to brainstorm potential topics. As the client was interested in two prompts, the team shared reading materials with the client for both prompts to help them select the one that suited them the best. After the client decided on a prompt, the team prepared a 40-minute lecture for the client to share detailed background information on the client’s topic. J&B also provided 10 scholarly articles for the client to broaden their knowledge. The team conducted a seminar with the client based on three selected articles and discussed each source in greater detail. Next, J&B prepared an 11-page outline for the client, which the client used to prepare their first draft. The team edited and revised the client’s first draft, offering guidance and suggestions, which the client used to write their second draft. The team polished the client’s final draft so that it would be ready for submission to John Locke. Writing Style:The client is an analytical writer comfortable using academic language. To help the client take their writing to the next level, J&B worked with the client on changing sentences from the passive to active voice, creating specific topic sentences, modifying paraphrasing, and boosting the argumentative component of their essay. At the end of the project, the client was highly satisfied with their work and expressed that it was one of the best essays they had written yet.
