J&B Red Program (College Admission)“A Swimmer and Future Stock Market Analyst Applies to College” Highlights: J&B worked with the client on a college application package to the following schools: West Point, Williams, USC Marshall, Georgia Tech, UMichigan, Ross, NYU, UPenn, Dartmouth, Cornell, and Brown. The package included assisting the client with their Common App essay, recommendation notes, resume, and supplemental essays. The team worked with the client on highlighting their background in investing and managing stock portfolios, while also incorporating their connection to their swimming community and unique sense of humor into relevant prompts. Background:The client is a well-rounded applicant: passionate about majoring in Economics/Finance but also deeply interested in the humanities, particularly history. They also have experience founding and leading extracurricular activities and are committed to competitive swimming. To ensure that the client’s multiplicity was well captured in their application, the team worked with the client on highlighting their background in investing and managing stock portfolios, while also incorporating their connection to their swimming community and unique sense of humor into relevant prompts. Throughout their application, the team worked with the client on expressing their desire to gain knowledge from hands-on learning in multiple disciplines. The Process:At the start of the project, the J&B team met with the client to brainstorm ideas for their Common App essay and get a sense of their character as an applicant. After the session, J&B prepared a detailed outline for the client’s Common App essay, which they used to create their first draft. While the client was working on their Common App essay, J&B helped the client prepare recommendation notes for their teachers. After editing and polishing the client’s Common App essay, J&B moved on to editing the client’s West Point essays, which they had independently worked on to get a head start on their deadlines. J&B then split the client’s remaining schools into two batches and worked on each batch of schools separately. For each set of schools, the team began by brainstorming ideas for their supplemental essays. After gathering the client’s ideas, J&B prepared a series of detailed outlines for each prompt, which the client utilized to produce their first drafts. The team then edited and polished each prompt to ensure that it effectively captured the client’s voice and ideas and adhered to strict word counts.
