J&B Orange Program (JSR)“Exploring Art and Gender for JSR” Highlights: J&B consulted with the client on a 2,*50-word research paper for the Journal of Student Research (JSR). The client’s final paper was published by JSR and submitted to its Sociology category. J&B broke the project into the following steps: 1) brainstorming, 2) topic selection, 3) a lecture, 4) seminar, 5) outline stage, 6) draft writing, and 7) final edits and polishing. The client is a diverse writer passionate about art. To help the client turn their interests into a quality research paper, the team worked with the client on discussing gender inequalities and gender norms within art history and the contemporary world. The Topic:J&B consulted with the client on a 2,*50-word research paper for the Journal of Student Research (JSR). The client’s final paper was published by JSR and submitted to its Sociology category. The Process:At the start of the project, J&B engaged in a brainstorming session with the client to discuss potential ideas for JSR. After the meeting, the team met to prepare three topic suggestions for the client based on their interests. Once the client selected a topic, J&B produced a 40-minute lecture going over key areas of their topic. J&B also shared ten scholarly sources to accompany the lecture, which they discussed in detail with the client during a seminar session. To begin the writing process, J&B shared an 11-page outline with the client to help them with their first draft. After the client shared their first draft with the team, J&B edited and revised it, and reformatted it according to JSR guidelines. At the end of the project, J&B helped the client prepare a metadata section for their paper (as per JSR requirements) and evaluated the client’s writing skills/abilities throughout the project. Writing Style:The client is a diverse writer passionate about art. To help the client turn their interests into a quality research paper, the team worked with the client on discussing gender inequalities and gender norms within art history and the contemporary world. J&B provided numerous scholarly sources related to the client’s topic to back up their hypotheses with credible evidence. The team also supported the client’s writing by assisting with paraphrasing, their abstract construction, and transitions from paragraph to paragraph. J&B’s Key Goals: Scholarly research Editing and revision Creative topic selection Structure and formatting Journal Selection Process:As the client is interested in categories within the social sciences and psychology, and likes to incorporate a creative twist into their writing, the J&B team recommended that the client submit a paper to JSR, as the open-ended nature of its topic selection would be a great fit for the client. Moreover, JSR publishes a wide variety of student material, with research topics ranging from the hard sciences to social sciences. Consequently, J&B was confident that by writing a paper for JSR, the client would be able to explore their unique interests in depth. As the client worked with the J&B team, they were able to gain a strong understanding of the format and structure of a research paper—knowledge they can carry with them to college.
