J&B Blue Program (John Locke Finalist)“Growing as an Essayist for John Locke” Highlights: J&B consulted with the client on a 1,*00-word essay for the John Locke Essay Competition addressing the prompt: “Does prison work?” The J&B team broke down the project into a brainstorming session, reading period, outlining stage, draft writing, and editing and polishing. The client is a detail-oriented writer open to receiving positive feedback and improving as a writer—by the end of the project, the client was highly satisfied with both their final draft and their growth as an essayist. The Topic:J&B consulted with the client on a 1,*00-word essay for the John Locke Essay Competition addressing a prompt in the Law category: “Does prison work?” The Result:Finalist The Process:At the start of the project, the J&B team met with the client over Zoom to discuss ideas for potential John Locke prompts. As the client expressed an interest in four different prompts, J&B shared reading materials related to each prompt so that the client could decide which prompt suited them the best. After the client selected their favorite prompt, the team shared a detailed outline for the client as well as ten scholarly sources to help them write their essay. After the client prepared their first draft, the team edited it and offered suggestions for the client’s second draft. The client utilized J&B’s feedback to write their final draft, which the team polished so that it would be ready for submission to John Locke well before the deadline. Writing Style:The client is a detail-oriented writer open to receiving positive feedback and improving as a writer. Throughout the project, J&B guided the client with their paraphrasing, clarifying their counterclaim, and revising their in-text citations and transitions. By the end of the project, the client was highly satisfied with their final draft as well as their growth as an essayist.
