Highlights: J&B worked with the client to prepare a 2,250-word biomedical review article which the client submitted to the Journal of Student Research (JSR). The team split the project into brainstorming, topic selection, lecture, seminar, outlining, writing, and editing phases. As the client hopes to prepare for college admissions, a publication in JSR is an excellent addition to the client’s academic resume and could provide a strong foundation for future research projects in college. The Topic: J&B worked with the client to prepare a 2,250-word biomedical review article which the client submitted to the Journal of Student Research (JSR). The Process: At the start of the project, the J&B team met with the client to brainstorm potential topics for extensive research. As the client expressed an interest in a wide variety of research problems and questions, the team prepared three topic proposals for the client to choose from, including an overview of each topic and the merits of its research. Once the client selected the topic that best suited their interests, the team prepared a 40-minute lecture and shared 10 scholarly sources related to the client’s chosen topic to provide background knowledge. J&B then met with the client to discuss the readings in detail. To begin the writing phase of the project, J&B shared an intricate, 10-page outline including guidelines for an abstract, introduction, literature review, methodology, conclusion, and acknowledgments section. In addition to sharing an outline, the team also provided PDFs of all the sources referenced in the outline. The client utilized J&B’s outline to produce their rough draft, which the team then edited and revised for the client’s submission. J&B also assisted the client with formatting their draft to suit JSR’s submission guidelines. Writing Style: The client is a multi-talented writer interested in developing their skillsets as a researcher in the STEM fields. To help the client create an objective, detail-oriented tone suited to a research paper, the team worked closely with the client on identifying and paraphrasing quotes from relevant sources, creating strong analyses, and identifying key areas within their research. J&B’s Key Goals: In-depth research Attention to detail Crafting analyses Identifying research problems Journal Selection Process: As the client hoped to pursue a topic within the public health, biomedical field, or social sciences, the team was confident that JSR, with its wide variety of publication categories, would be an ideal fit for the client’s interests. Moreover, as the client hopes to prepare for college admissions, a publication in JSR would be an excellent addition to the client’s academic resume and could provide a strong foundation for future research projects in higher education.
