Highlights: J&B worked with the client on a 2,000-word essay for the John Locke Essay Competition Junior category, addressing the prompt: “Has the anti-racism movement reduced racism?” J&B split the project into: a brainstorming session, topic selection, lecture, reading period, seminar, outlining stage, draft writing, and editing and revision process. To help the client develop their ideas and further hone their persuasive writing skills, the team worked closely with the client on reading and analyzing scholarly sources, conducting in-depth research, crafting strong analyses, and developing their critical thinking skills overall. After the client expressed an interest in several prompts, J&B shared preliminary readings related to each prompt to provide further background knowledge. The team met with the client to discuss the readings in detail and select a prompt. Once the client confirmed their topic, J&B shared a 40-minute lecture on the client’s topic and offered ten scholarly sources to further their knowledge. The team highlighted and annotated the sources to further guide the client and assist their learning process. J&B then conducted a seminar session with the client to discuss the key ideas surrounding each reading. The team then shared a detailed outline with the client to help them write their essay. The client utilized J&B’s essay to write their first draft, which the team edited and returned with suggestions. The client followed J&B’s guidance for their second draft, which the team edited and polished so that it would be ready to submit to John Locke.
