Background: The client is an adventurous, introspective student interested in discovering how to incorporate their individual philosophies and academic goals into the format of a compelling personal essay. Throughout the project, J&B focused on breaking down the structure and organization of personal essays, assisting the client with introducing personal details, analyses of key moments in their life, and creative realizations/reflections. By the end of the project, the client had a stronger understanding of not only how to respond to personal essay prompts but also how to highlight crucial moments in their life and reflect on them using poetic language. The Process: To begin the project, J&B met with the client to brainstorm potential ideas for each essay prompt. After the client shared personal details relevant to each prompt, J&B prepared three detailed outlines for each prompt to help the client begin writing. The client utilized J&B’s outlines to create three first drafts, which the team carefully edited and revised. The client then followed J&B’s suggestions to write their next set of drafts, which J&B polished so that they would be ready for submission.
