Highlights: J&B assisted the client with a 1,200-word essay for the Ayn Rand Essay Contest’s Anthem category, addressing Prompt 3: “…Are there widespread attitudes in your society today that represent “worship of the word ‘We’”? If so, what impact does this “worship” have on your society and on your own life? If not, what fundamental attitudes and ideas explain the difference between your society and the society in Anthem? J&B broke the project down into: a brainstorming phase, topic confirmation, outline stage, draft writing, and editing and polishing. To help the client focus on key elements of Anthem to address Prompt 3, the team worked with the client on crafting logical statements, streamlining arguments, and utilizing specific examples from the text. The Process: At the start of the project, J&B met with the client to conduct a brainstorming session and discuss the Ayn Rand Essay contest prompts for Anthem in detail, as well Ayn Rand’s own philosophical objectives. The team met with the client again to select and confirm the prompt that best suited their goals—Prompt 3. To begin the writing process, J&B shared a detailed, 9-page outline with the client to help them better understand how to structure their essay and formulate their thesis and arguments. The client utilized J&B’s outline to write their first draft, which the team edited and returned to the client with specific guidance. J&B then carefully edited and polished the draft one more time, so that it would be a complete and competitive submission to Ayn Rand. Writing Style: The client is a careful and critical thinker concerned with the ways in which Anthem philosophically dissects our past and contemporary societies.
