The Topic: J&B worked with the client on a 2,000-word review article for the International Journal of High School Research (IJHSR) in its Sociology category. The Process: To begin the project, the J&B met with the client to brainstorm potential research topics for IJHSR. As the client came into the project with an initial set of ideas and research goals, the team helped the client solidify their approach and perspective during the brainstorming phase. To structure the client’s approach and research aims, J&B then shared a research paper proposal with the client consisting of a mini introduction, “research problem,” primary literature review, methodology, mini conclusion, and initial references. After the client confirmed the content of their research paper proposal, J&B prepared a 40-minute lecture and shared 10 scholarly sources to boost the client’s background knowledge of their topic. J&B also met with the client to conduct a seminar and discuss the readings in further detail. To begin the writing process, J&B shared a detailed, 7-page outline complete with references to help the client write their draft. The client followed J&B’s outline to create their review article draft, which the team heavily edited, polished, and formatted so that it would be suitable for submission to IJHSR.
