Highlights: J&B worked with the client on a 2,000-word essay for the John Locke Essay Competition addressing the Theology prompt: “Is it reasonable to thank God for protection from some natural harm if He is responsible for causing the harm?” J&B split the project into: a brainstorming session, preliminary readings, topic confirmation, lecture, seminar, outlining, draft writing, and editing. To help the client, J&B worked with them on clarifying language, fine-tuning their arguments, and removing any excessive or unnecessary details. After the session, J&B shared relevant reading materials related to each prompt to help the client select the one that appealed to them the most. After the client confirmed their topic, J&B prepared a 40-minute lecture and shared 10 scholarly sources with the client to help them better understand key concepts surrounding their prompt. J&B then met the client for a seminar session to discuss each reading in detail. To begin the writing process, J&B shared a detailed, 9-page outline with the client complete with scholarly sources to help them write their first draft. The client utilized J&B’s outline to create their first draft, which the team edited and returned to the client with feedback. The client followed J&B’s guidance to write their second draft, which the team edited and polished so that it would be ready to submit to John Locke. Writing Style: The client is a conscientious writer interested in expressing their passion for theology and philosophy.
