Highlights: J&B worked with the client on a 1,500-word short story for the Bennington Young Writer’s Awards. The team split the project into: a brainstorming session, topic selection phase, outlining process, draft writing, and editing. To help the client elevate their short story, the team worked with them on creating a logical, consistent narrative full of descriptive, poetic, and revealing details. The Topic: J&B worked with the client on a 1,500-word short story for the Bennington Young Writer’s Awards.The Process: To begin the project, J&B met with the client and conducted a brainstorming session to gather ideas for potential categories and topics. To help the client narrow down their focus, the team shared three topic suggestions and categories with the client. After carefully reviewing J&B’s suggestions, the client shared additional goals for her short story, which J&B incorporated into a finalized topic suggestion for the client. After confirming the topic, J&B shared a detailed, 4-page outline to help the client write their first draft. Following J&B’s outline, the client produced the first half of their short story, which the team edited and returned to the client with suggestions. The client accepted J&B’s edits and prepared the final half of their short story, which the team carefully polished and edited so that it would be ready for submission to Bennington. Writing Style: The client is a meticulous writer, who pays close attention to content and vocabulary choices. To help the client elevate their short story, the team worked with them on creating a logical, consistent narrative full of descriptive, poetic, and revealing details. J&B also helped the client incorporate personal life experiences into their short story while retaining a fictional focus.
