J&B Blue Program (Ayn Rand)“An Existential Crisis and the Ayn Rand Essay Contest” Highlights: J&B helped the client prepare a 1,150-word essay for the Ayn Rand Essay Contest addressing Prompt 2. J&B broke the project down into a brainstorming session, prompt selection, lecture and reading period, seminar, two draft writing stages, and a process of editing and revision. The team worked closely with the client to weave the client’s personal philosophy smoothly into their analysis of Anthem. The Topic:J&B helped the client prepare a 1,150-word essay for the Ayn Rand Essay Contest addressing Prompt 2: “For the following statement from Anthem, explain its role in the story, its relation to the themes and message of the story, and its relevance to your own life: ‘Indeed you are happy,’ they answered. ‘How else can men be when they live for their brothers?’” The Process:At the start of the project, J&B met with the client to brainstorm ideas for potential prompts. As the client was interested in all three prompts, the team shared reading materials related to each prompt to help the client decide which one to write about. Once the client selected Prompt 2, the team prepared a 40-minute lecture for the client and shared 10 scholarly sources to provide the client with a strong background knowledge of Ayn Rand and their topic. Next, J&B conducted a seminar session with the client to discuss three of the readings in further detail. To help the client write their first draft, J&B shared a detailed outline with the client. After reviewing the client’s first draft, the team heavily edited and revised it and returned it to the client with detailed suggestions. The client followed J&B’s edits to produce their second draft, which the team reviewed and polished so that it met their high-quality standards. Writing Style:The client is an introspective writer with a critical eye for detail. To help the client keep the focus of their essay on analyzing Anthem in-depth, the team worked with the client on their thesis, paragraph structures, interpretation of quotes, and paraphrasing. J&B also worked closely with the client to weave the client’s personal philosophy smoothly into their analysis of Anthem.
